Public Safety Idea Starter: Wandering Program

The Penobscot Regional Communications Center, serving Penobscot County, Maine, has established a Wandering Program designed to provide a critical network of real time information (including a photograph to Law Enforcement) to assist in locating individuals prone to wander due to Autism, Alzheimer’s, Dementia or other mental/medical conditions.

The program is free, and participants must register your loved one. Information is secure and private. Among other resources, it alerts officers to potential triggers and ways to calm the individual.
