Idea Starter: Food Friendly Yards Program

Through its Food Friendly Yards program, the Durham, NH, Agricultural Commission encourages Durham residents to produce their own food. This includes raising fruits and planting vegetable gardens in their own yards. The Commission also provides information about raising poultry and other livestock where appropriate.

The Commission recognizes these efforts with “Food Friendly Yard” signs, designed to help raise awareness of the possibility for home food production and validate those efforts.
