Idea Starter: Calendars

The City of Warwick, RI, recently mailed 12-month calendar to City residents. The calendar was prepared by the Department of Public Works’ Recycling and Sanitation Division and contains information regarding yard waste schedules, recycling information, trash collection delays, automated trash collection tips, where to purchase yard waste bags, how to dispose of holiday items, and municipal recycling facility hours.

In addition, the calendar contains a list of city fire stations and library branch locations (including branch hours of operation)and telephone numbers for municipal departments. The calendars were printed in lieu of quarterly Recyclers and other informational flyers regarding recycling and sanitation within the City.

The calendar features a variety of color and black and white photos, submitted by area residents, of some of the “most beautiful landmarks throughout the City.” This year the calendar’s cover features City Hall, a nod to the extensive renovations done on the clock tower and facade of the historic building.

In addition, a limited number of calendars are available at the Department of Public Works and the Public Library for people who did not receive by one mail. Calendars are limited to one per person, on a first-come, first-served basis.
