Education Idea Starter: Early Literacy Program for New Mothers

The Worcester, MA, Public Schools sponsors Books for Babies, an early literacy initiative designed to prepare all children in the city to be reading-ready when they begin their education in the school system.

The program includes delivering an appropriate book to every new mother who lives in Worcester so that she may read to her infant. The books are delivered to the mothers in the hospital before they go home with their babies.
